When Should You Use a Telehandler Fork?

One of the most common areas of any plant hire company is telehandler hire. We have developed an extensive range of telehandler hire options for our customers down the years, looking to improve the choices available by upgrading our fleet to the latest models whenever possible. That way, you know that you are hiring the safest and most effective version of the telehandler when you have a plant hire contract with Ardent.

Understanding the telehandler forklift

Understanding the telehandler and how it is most effective is vital, in any industry and on any site. Telehandler forks are designed to attach to each individual machine, connecting with the telehandler frames and forklifts. Telehandlers are incredibly versatile at lifting things, and this is why they are used extensively within the construction industry, where there is constantly the need to lift and move heavy items around site and to work at height.

A telehandler has six hydraulic functions that set out its capabilities:

  • The boom moves up and down
  • The boom extends and retracts
  • The forks can tilt both forwards and backwards
  • The stabilisers extend and retract
  • The steering is intuitive and flexible
  • The machine remains level on uneven and rough terrain

Using a telehandler forklift

Primarily, telehandlers are used for material handling, as the forks are designed to help lift heavy loads and move from one position to another, utilising the strength of the forks and the compact frame of the telehandler. It makes it easier to move materials in tight spaces and is incredibly useful in warehouse sites, distribution centres, recycling centres and other places.

Are there telehandler attachments?

There are many different attachments for telehandlers that expand its potential use, each designed for very specific tasks within different industries. Understanding what type of tasks that you have ahead of you will help in choosing the right type of telehandler attachment hire. The most common forklift attachment for a telehandler is the fork carriage, which ensures that the telehandler can lift a wide range of loads. This makes it important within construction especially, as it can now be used to safely and effectively lift and move materials such as pallets, steel bars, timber, concrete blocks, pipes, and packaged goods.
